Join us as we cultivate a deep daily yoga practice in one of the holiest towns in India, study the ancient teachings of yoga at the source, and visit spectacular temples in a region known for its tradition of arts, poetry, and devotion.
We will arrive in Chennai, India on February 9th and then move on to the holy city of Tiruvannamalai, where we will stay for a full 10 days. Here we’ll cultivate a daily practice together at the foot of the sacred mountain Arunachala and take regular visits together to Arunachaleshwara, one of the most beautiful and holy temples in India. We’ll have optional hikes around and up the mountain, visit meditation caves and have daily darshan at one of India’s most respected ashrams, and will also have plenty of time to see temples in the surrounding area.
On February 19th, the full moon will bring over 100,000 pilgrims to the sacred mountain in an outpouring of devotion not to be missed.
Those who wish to take the teacher training portion of the trip will attend afternoon sessions on asana, pranayama, meditation, sequencing, ayurveda, and yoga philosophy. Others will have time to explore and/or relax.
The entire group will then take a three day excursion to some of the famed temple towns of South India, including Srirangam Temple, one of the most sacred Vishnu temples in India, Brihadeeswarar temple, a magnificent stone shiva temple and Meenakshi Amman Temple, the largest Goddess temple in the world.
The total cost for the retreat is $2,350, or $2,990 if you want single accommodation. This does not include your flight to India, but does include ground travel within India, all hotel costs, all yoga, and some meals. This price has been made intentionally affordable as it is my wish to be as inclusive as possible. There will be a supplemental cost of around $60 for those flying back to Chennai from Madurai on February 22nd.
